EUROVISION SONG CONTEST (ESC), EUROFAN ACCOUNT AND TICKET SALE PRE-REGISTRATION
INTRODUCTION
The EBU take the privacy of Your Personal Data seriously and ensures compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679/EU ("GDPR"), the Federal Act on Data Protection (“FADP”) and any other applicable data protection laws (“Data Protection Laws”).
This Privacy Notice informs you (hereinafter referred as to “You”, “Your(s)”) on how Your Personal Data are collected and processed by the EUROPEAN BROADCASTING UNION (EBU), acting as Controller, with registered office at L’Ancienne-Route 17A, 1218 Grand-Saconnex (Geneva), Switzerland and registered with the Commercial Registry in Geneva (Switzerland) under number IDE CHE 107.741.078 (hereinafter referred to as “We”, “Our”, “Us”) when You create an Eurofan account (“Account”) on our ESC website, digital platforms and/or mobile applications (“Platforms”) and for the pre-registration process of the ESC ticket sale as applicable (“Pre-Registration”).
Please read this Privacy Notice carefully to ensure You are fully informed as to who We are, why and how We collect, process and share Your Personal Data, and how You can exercise Your privacy rights.
The terms “Controller”, “Data Subject(s)”, “Personal Data”, and “processing” shall have the meaning set out in the Data Protection Laws.
WHAT PERSONAL DATA DO WE COLLECT AND PROCESS?
When submitting Personal Data via the Platforms, please make sure that Your browser shows a secure https connection, indicated by a lock icon in the browser’s address bar.
INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE ON THE PLATFORMS FOR THE CREATION OF YOUR ACCOUNT AND FOR THE PRE-REGISTRATION
We collect the following Personal Data directly from You when You create Your Account on the Platforms and register for the Pre-Registration as applicable
Basic Information: e.g. first name, last name, gender, (optional: middle name, previous last name).
Identification details: e.g. date of birth.
Contact Information: e.g. email address, phone number, address and country of residence.
Login details: e.g. username and password.
We may also collect other Personal Data that You provide on an optional/voluntarily basis, such as Your preferences regarding the seat type, category of tickets (if any), communication preferences (opt-in for marketing communications/newsletters), or when You contact Us directly (by email or on the Platforms) for support or assistance regarding the creation of Your Account and/or Your Pre-Registration.
INFORMATION COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY ON THE PLATFORMS
Certain technical data may be collected automatically to enable access to the Platforms for security and Platforms performance purposes. This includes notably device, network, and connection data such as IP address, browser or app version, and connection time, as well as system logs and diagnostic data (e.g., timestamps, error message).
This information is necessary for system security, auditability, and troubleshooting and is not used to identify Your individual activity beyond what is required to ensure compliance with Data Protection Laws.
SPECIAL CATEGORY OF PERSONAL DATA
We will not collect or process any special category of Personal Data relating to You, except if You provide such Personal Data to Us on a voluntary basis because You deem it necessary for Us to know, such as specific disabilities.
ON WHICH BASIS DO WE PROCESS PERSONAL DATA AND FOR WHAT PURPOSES?
We collect and process Personal Data relating to You based on the following basis, which depends on the type of Personal Data concerned and the purpose for which We process it.
Performance of a Contract (the Account and ESC tickets sale pre-registration terms and conditions) for the purposes of:
Creating, maintaining and managing Your Account on the Platforms.
Managing Your Pre-Registration (including without limitation confirming and validating Your registration and managing Your participation to the Pre-Registration).
Facilitating Your access to exclusive pre-sales or other offers of ESC related products including tickets sales (including without limitation by notifying You of the start of the ticket sale, sending You individual access code allowing access to the ESC ticket sales conducted by Our official ticketing partner, sharing Your relevant Personal Data with our official ticketing partner and/or the host broadcaster), merchandising and other related ESC offers.
Legitimate Interest (unless already covered by a contractual obligation) for the purposes of:
Performing aggregated anonymized statistics with respect to the Account creations and Pre-registration applications.
Detecting, preventing and addressing potential misuses or fraud on the Platforms, and ensuring network and information security.
Monitoring, maintaining, and improving Platform’s performance, security, and reliability.
Contacting You with updates and information regarding the ESC ticket sale.
Contacting You if You have requested support or assistance with regard to Your account or Pre-Registration.
Facilitating the ESC ticket sale and general organization of the ESC, by sharing Your Personal Data where relevant to Our official ticketing partner and/or the host broadcaster.
Sending You newsletters and/or marketing emails, regarding the ESC, the JESC and related activities, the EBU and other EBU events, activities, and/or services, such as upcoming ESC events, exclusive offers and updates about ESC premium products merchandise, fan packages and experiences, presales access, etc.
Consent (unless already covered by Legitimate Interest or Contractual obligation) for the purposes of:
Receiving newsletters, and/or marketing emails, subject to Your consent, from ESC partners (ticketing partner, sponsors, official suppliers, etc.).
Whenever the processing of Your Personal Data is based on Your consent, You have the right to withdraw such consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of any processing before the withdrawal of consent. The consent can be withdrawn by fulfilling a specific request form accessible on Our dedicated Data Subject Rights Online Platform or by contacting EBU at privacy@ebu.ch.
Personal Data processed for a new purpose shall not be processed without first having a lawful basis for doing so.
WHO HAS ACCESS TO YOUR PERSONAL DATA AND WITH WHOM THOSE DATA ARE SHARED?
Your Personal Data will be accessed by the relevant staff of EBU in charge of managing Your account and Pre-registration, and/or for assisting You when You contact Us for support regarding Your account or Pre-Registration.
We share Your relevant Personal Data on a need-to-know basis and in a manner consistent with this Privacy Notice with Our partners and subcontractors/providers and namely:
Our official ticketing partner which is in charge of operating the ticketing platform on which You will buy the ESC tickets.
The host broadcaster for event related-purposes.
Our technical, logistics and IT partners, such as providers of mailing tools, hosting, IT and Wi-Fi providers.
Our sponsors and suppliers (if Your opt-in to receive communication form them).
Except as mentioned above, We will not make Your Personal Data available to other any third party and shall not publicly disclose the Personal Data unless such transfer is based on Your specific consent, on legitimate interest or otherwise authorised or compulsory by law or by order of an administration or judicial authority.
Third-Party processing and Third-Party Links:
Please note that Our official ticketing partner, host broadcaster, and other partners/subcontractors/providers may also collect and process Personal Data for their own purposes, as independent controllers, in accordance with their own “terms and conditions” and “privacy policy”, as the case may be, and We are NOT responsible for their processing.
In addition, on certain areas of the Platforms, links to third parties’ platforms, which are not subject to this Privacy Notice, may be provided as the case may be. Please be aware that such third parties may process Your Personal Data for their own purposes, as independent Controllers, in accordance with their own “terms and conditions” and “privacy policy”, as the case may be, and We are NOT responsible for their processing.
Transferring Personal Data to Third Countries:
Please note that whenever Your Personal Data is transferred to third parties located outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area, We ensure that appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, are implemented in accordance with Data Protection Laws.
Use of Cookies:
Cookies are small text files that may be placed on Your device when You access the Platforms. They help us ensure that Our Platforms function properly, enhance user experience, and provide aggregated usage statistics.
When You visit the Platforms for the first time, the entry page will show information on privacy through a “cookie banner” allowing You to manage cookies preferences and provide Your consent to the use of specific cookies. We may also use cookies which are required for technical reasons and for which We do not require Your consent. You can manage or withdraw Your consent at any time via the “Cookie Settings” link available on the Platforms.
Direct marketing:
We will not use Your Personal Data for direct marketing purposes without Your explicit prior consent (opt-in). You can withdraw Your consent or opt out from those direct marketing campaigns and oppose to the future processing of Your Personal Data for such purposes by fulfilling a specific request form accessible on Our dedicated Data Subject Rights Online Platform or by contacting Us and mentioning "opt-out" in the subject of Your email. Alternatively, You may use the opt-out procedure provided in any promotional message You receive from Us.
Please note that opting out of receiving promotional messages from Us will not prevent Us from sending You communications directly related to Your Account and Pre-Registration.
FOR HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
We will retain Your Personal Data only as long as necessary to:
Maintain and manage Your Account (including sending you information and updates about future ESC events if You have provided Your consent to receive such communications);
Manage Your Pre-Registration and facilitate the ESC ticket sale; and comply with Our legal obligations
Please note that Your Account will remain active for as long as You choose to keep it and if You have opted in for marketing communications, Your Personal Data will be processed to send updates about future events. You may close Your Account or withdraw Your consent to receive communications at any time via Your Account settings or by contacting us at privacy@ebu.ch.
Authentication and system log data are retained only for the limited period necessary to fulfill security, audit and troubleshooting purposes and are automatically deleted according to Our data retention policy and applicable laws.
Data that is no longer necessary will be securely deleted or anonymized.
HOW IS YOUR PERSONAL DATA PROTECTED ON THE ESC PLATFORMS?
We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures in accordance with industry standards to ensure a suitable level of security for the Personal Data We collect and process. However, security also requires Your active participation. We encourage You to use a strong password, keep Your credentials confidential, and avoid sharing the access code You may receive for the ticket sale.
MINORS
The Pre-Registration Process and the ESC ticket sales are not intended for or directed to individuals under 18 years of age (“Minors”). If You are a Minor, please do not register or provide any Personal Data without the consent of Your parent or legal guardian.
If You believe a Minor or someone else has provided Personal Data without the consent of Your parent or legal guardian, please contact Us at privacy@ebu.ch. When You send Your request, please mention that Your request concerns Personal Data of Minor in relation to the Pre-Registration for ESC ticket sale.
YOUR RIGHTS
In accordance with Data Protection Laws, You are entitled to exercise the following rights at any time in relation to Your Personal Data:
Right to access Your Personal Data;
Right to rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
Right to erase your data, subject to retention requirements;
Right to restrict or object to processing Your Personal Data to limit how Your Personal Data is used;
Right to data portability to receive Your Personal Data in a structured format;
Right to withdraw consent at anytime; and
Right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing.
You may exercise Your rights by contacting privacy@ebu.ch and mentioning “Personal Data ESC Pre-Registration”. Please note that We may need to verify Your identity before processing your request.

UPDATE AND REVIEW
This privacy Notice is effective as from 31 October 2025 and supersedes any previous version. The EBU reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Notice at any time. This Privacy Notice is in addition to the ESC privacy notices. You will be notified of such changes by e-mail only if they reflect amendments with regards to processing your personal data. It is therefore your responsibility to check this page periodically for updates.
