The sky’s the limit for Abor & Tynna. The brother and sister duo are right on target, ready to represent Germany at Eurovision 2025 with their song ‘Baller’.

Smashing the selection show

Germany took their Eurovision selection very seriously for 2025, and put on the first edition of a pre-selection show, Chefsache ESC. The final came live from Cologne, where 9 artists competed for a spot in Basel.

Abor & Tynna performed their electro-disco-pop song Baller, where an effortlessly cool Tynna gave the vocals and Abor played the cello. And they delivered what might be the first cello smashing in Eurovision history. Put the props department on standby.

A jury – which included Austrian Eurovision royalty Conchita Wurst – chose 5 acts to move onto the second round. The final decision was then up to the audience, and when the results came in, Abor & Tynna took 34.9% of the votes. They didn’t just shoot for the stars, they hit the target.

During the contest, Abor & Tynna also performed an impressive cover of Adele’s James Bond song, Skyfall. Never mind diamonds, Eurovision is forever.

Written in the stars

Abor & Tynna, a brother and sister whose real names are Attila and Tünde Bornemisza, have got the kind of pan-European background that we love to see.

The pair have roots in Romania and Hungary, and then developed their sound from their home in Vienna. With Germany sharing a language with Austria, it wasn’t a big leap for them to take their music across the border, and they began producing their tracks in Berlin.

When they were growing up, mobile phones were usually kept out of their reach, but classical instruments were not.

Abor got stuck into music technology, and started experimenting with instrumental tracks. He soon brought in his sister Tynna, who lent her vocals to his music. Before long, they were invited into a producer’s studio, and the stars aligned.

“There was never a plan, no great excitement – except maybe when the label called. But we're relaxed about that too,” Tynna says.

Above all, they love experimenting and playing live, which gives them a huge buzz.

Baller is all about moving on from a relationship, dusting yourself off, and shooting for the stars.

Also working on the song is Alex Hauer, who is a producer, musician, and singer from Berlin. He’s made pop cuts for superstars including John Legend and Chung Ha, and co-wrote the song Overdrive for Ofenbach. He is also the frontman for indie band Mar Malade.

The ‘Baller’ beats

This pair have a unique sound, and it’s clear where they find their chilled-electro influences. Some of their favourite songs include Moth To A Flame from Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd, Eisblock by Yung Hurn, and Babylon from SZA and Kendrick Lamar. Their playlist of favourite tunes is full of rap, hip hop, and indie music.

When it comes to karaoke, Abor & Tynna set aside the pulsing rhythms and go straight to Adele, with their song of choice being Someone Like You. They might be smashing the electro-pop songs, but they’ve proven they can also serve up a ball-alalalalalal-ad.

Both Abor and Tynna remember watching Eurovision in their living room with their family, and being fascinated with Loreen’s performance of Euphoria, with which she claimed her first win for Sweden in 2012. They love her aura, and she’s now cited as their Eurovision hero.

Entering the Eurovision galaxy

Before their trip to Switzerland, Abor & Tynna’s most memorable musical moment was winning the German pre-selection show, and being able to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest. But with Basel calling, they’re about to set their sights even higher.

By the time they’ve performed to millions of people from the Eurovision stage, they’ll be among the stars themselves.
