Theo Evan is waving the flag for Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. He’ll be singing Shh, and he won’t be staying quiet for long.

The big reveal

Cyprus were so confident with their Eurovision 2025 artist, that they were the first country to announce their act back in September 2024 – it’s Theo Evan!

The following March, Theo announced his song as Shh, which was written by a top team of Dimitris Kontopoulos, Elsie Bay, Linda Dale, Elke Tiel, and Lasse Nymann.

Dimitris is one of the most successful songwriters in Eurovision, having written songs in 8 Contests, including 4 top three finishes. He wrote Silia Kapsis’ Liar for Cyprus in 2024, while Elka wrote the lyrics.

Linda co-wrote Queen of Kings for Alessandra from Norway in 2023. Both she and Lasse were part of the team that wrote Nemo’s The Code, which brought the Contest home to Switzerland for 2025.

Theo graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, where he honed his skills in composition and production. The experience has left him with a distinctive sound, which he puts front and centre in Shh.

One of his most memorable moments was releasing his original song The Wall in 2021, which is full of reggaeton influences and has some EDM elements.

If you’re wondering where songwriters get their inspiration, we can finally reveal the secret. Or at least, the secret to Theo’s process. He experiments with his sound, writes songs, and creates choreographies in… his bathroom. That’s what we call a power shower.

He’s not only an accomplished musician but is also a brilliant film director, known for his innovative approach to music and storytelling. The music video for Shh , which Theo co-directed, is full of suspense and describes a mysterious character. To find out who this character is, we’ll all have to wait until the Contest in Basel…

The mystery of Theo Evan

We asked Theo one of life’s most important questions – what is his favourite cheese? He’s staying loyal to Cyprus, and says that it has to be halloumi.

If he could have three wishes from a genie, Theo would keep things Eurovision themed. First up, he’d wish for more countries to join the Contest, as he loves the magic of uniting people through music.

Next, he’d take inspiration from Windows95Man and declare “No Rules!” Got a song that’s 8 minutes long? No problem. Want to play an alpine horn live? Go ahead. Got a 50-person-strong dance troupe? This way please!

And for his final wish, Theo would ask the genie to perform a duet with him, because who wouldn’t want a little extra magic on stage?

Getting loud

Most of Theo’s favourite songs come from Stromae, Michael Jackson, The Fray, Drake, Billie Eilish, and Coldplay. If he’s in charge of the tunes, expect to hear How to Save a Life, Beat It, and Yellow.

But for karaoke, he’s keeping it in the Eurovision family. He loves to sing Eleni Foureira’s Fuego, which came in second place for Cyprus in 2018, missing out to Netta’s Toy.

Theo has been doing his Eurovision homework, and gave the perfect answer about who his Eurovision hero is. He says: “Since Eurovision is in Switzerland, I have to say Céline Dion! She proved that Eurovision can launch global superstars, and her voice and passion have inspired me endlessly.”

Unveiling secrets in Switzerland

Theo can’t wait to get his hands on some Swiss chocolate, and he doesn’t have too long to wait. He’s also hoping Céline Dion might visit the Eurovision Song Contest, and he’s not the only one making that wish.
