Claude will represent the Netherlands at Basel 2025

Claude is riding the rollercoaster of life all the way to Basel, ready to represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. He’ll be performing his song ‘C'est La Vie’.

Quelle miracle

The Netherlands had a long process for choosing their Eurovision artist in 2025, carefully sifting through 331 songs that were submitted. They eventually settled on Claude, who is bringing his song C'est La Vie to the Contest in Basel.

Eurovision has a special place in Claude’s heart. At the age of 9, he moved with his family from Congo to the Netherlands to seek safety. Here in Europe, the family encountered Eurovision for the first time. He remembers them all cheering on Conchita Wurst when she won for Austria in 2014 with Rise Like A Phoenix. Since then, Conchita has been his Eurovision hero, and he’s followed the Contest closely. And now he gets to be a part of it.

Claude's song C'est La Vie is mostly sung in French, which is the official language in Congo. His music video shows his younger self, and through a beautiful dance he discovers who he is.

Voilà – Claude!

Claude had his musical breakthrough in 2022 with his debut single Ladada (Mon Dernier Mot), which has had over 60 million streams on Spotify. The song has the same lyrical quality and catchy beats that can be heard in C’est La Vie, giving him a distinctive sound.

Claude says releasing this song was a standout moment for him as a musician. The English-French version hit the charts in more than 15 countries.

He released his first album Parler Français in 2024, on which he co-wrote all the songs, before touring the Netherlands and Belgium. To top that all off, he’s also taken on a role as Ambassador for Freedom.

To create the perfect Eurovision song, Claude went to the studio with a team consisting of Arno Krabman, Joren van der Voort, and Léon Palmen. Arno and Joren are part of Claude’s regular producing team, and what a dream to keep that team together for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Claude won’t have much time to rest after Eurovision, as he’ll be heading off to the Pinkpop Festival to perform in June 2025. By then, no doubt the whole of Europe will be singing every lyric to C'est La Vie.

This singer is no stranger to competition, after auditioning for The Voice Kids when he was 14. He got all the judges turning for his performance of Papaoutai by Stromae, and even at a young age showed off his incredible stage presence. It’s all come full circle, because Claude will be a judge on the show when it returns in 2026.

Chantez un, deux, trois

Claude’s playlist is packed with classics, as well as classics in the making. He’s just as happy listening to Aretha Franklin’s I Say A Little Prayer as RAYE’s Oscar Winning Tears. He’s a big fan of Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, and Adele, and clearly loves a pop song with soul.

When it comes to getting Claude on the dance floor, there’s one track we need to ask Mr DJ to spin. And that’s Rihanna’s Pon de Replay.

If Claude could hand out dinner invitations to any three celebrities from all of history, he’d choose Whitney Houston, Adele, and Michael Jackson. We would love to hear the karaoke party afterwards.
