Look at the United Kingdom now: Remember Monday just happened
Remember Monday will represent the United Kingdom at Basel 2025
Remember Monday are making harmonies cool again. They’re waving the flag for the United Kingdom, ready to represent their country at Eurovision 2025 with the song ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’
The big reveal
What The Hell Just Happened? The song that Remember Monday will be taking to Eurovision, and a frequently-asked question.
Rumours had been flying about this pop trio’s participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, but it was officially announced in March 2025 on the BBC’s Radio 2 Breakfast Show. Presenter and Eurovision fan Scott Mills made the big reveal, and the UK went wild for Remember Monday.
In harmony
Lauren Byrne, Holly Hull, and Charlotte Steele come from the south of England, in the UK, and have been best friends since college. They put their voices together to create vocal harmonies, particularly on songs with a country and western feel.
They were soon recording acapella versions of popular songs. Shania Twain even reposted their version of You’re Still The One and they got the attention of Queen guitarist Brian May with their cover of Fat Bottomed Girls.
Remember Monday first made a splash in the UK when they competed in The Voice UK in 2019 . They stunned the judges in the blind auditions with their version of Seal’s Kiss From A Rose, and went through to the quarter-finals with superstar Jennifer Hudson as a mentor.
They feel very lucky to have Jennifer in their corner. She even flew them out to the USA to perform on her talk show in 2024. They sang Alanis Morissette’s Hand In My Pocket with their trademark harmonies.
As well as being in a pop group, they have all appeared in musical theatre productions in London’s West End. Collectively, they’ve been in The Phantom of the Opera, Matilda, and Mary Poppins.
Making memories
Their most memorable moment so far has been selling out a London venue with their own headline tour. With the Eurovision Song Contest coming up and plenty of festival bookings for summer 2025, there's set to be many more moments for them to remember.
A performance they might want to forget involved Holly breaking a shoe on stage. Although, it could also have been the inspiration for the first line of What The Hell Just Happened?
They love to perform in bathrooms on a night out. The acoustics are great, and it’s where they say they make new best friends.
Remember Monday wrote their Eurovision entry What The Hell Just Happened? alongside production and songwriting duo Billen Ted, multi-platinum Danish songwriter Julie Aagaard, and Thomas Stengaard.
Thomas wrote Emmelie de Forest’s 2013 Eurovision-winning song for Denmark Only Teardrops and El Diablo for Cyprus’ Elena Tsagrinou in 2021. Julie co-wrote We Will Rave, performed by Kaleen for Austria at Eurovision 2024. And Billen Ted have worked with huge artists including Little Mix, Anne-Marie, and RAYE.
Flying the flag
Charlotte in particular is a huge Eurovision fan. For a while, she had Alexander Rybak’s Fairytale (which is her favourite song) as her ringtone.
Their earliest memory of Eurovision is watching Scooch performing Flying the Flag (For You) for the United Kingdom in 2007. The song had a very memorable airplane theme, and a rather saucy pre-flight safety briefing.
But their hero has to be Sam Ryder, who performed SPACE MAN for the United Kingdom in 2022, coming in second place to Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra and paving the way for the UK to host the 2023 Contest on behalf of Ukraine.
Pitch perfect
The Remember Monday crew love the legacy of strong female voices in music from the UK, which they’re now adding to. As it so happens, their manager was involved with the creation of the Spice Girls.
Some of their favourite songs include Maisie Peters’ Lost The Breakup, Chappell Roan’s My Kink Is Karma, and Sabrina Carpenter’s Taste.
They don’t need much encouragement to pick up the microphone at karaoke, and their favourite song to sing is Wilson Phillips’ Hold On. This song is right on brand for their harmony-rich sound.
Waking up in Basel
The room might be spinning, and their ears might be ringing, but Remember Monday are ready to head to Switzerland for Eurovision.
And whatever happens, they’ll be hoping that Europe likes it too.
