Welcome Home

Anyone tuning in to all three of the Basel 2025 Live Shows will spot that each one will have its own unique story running through the evening's broadcast.

SRG SSR will be implementing three celebratory themes into the two Semi-Finals and the Grand Final. The broadcaster will be reminding viewers that Eurovision is returning to its origins, right back to when the first Contest came to us from Switzerland in 1956.

To help frame this picture, each of the Live Shows will tell its own story, united by the motto 'Welcome Home'.

  • First Semi-Final, 13 May : Where It All Began – an homage to the Eurovision Song Contest's birthplace, Switzerland
  • Second Semi-Final, 15 May : Eurovision fans – a big party for anyone who's ever enjoyed the Eurovision Song Contest
  • Grand Final, 17 May : Let's Celebrate a New Winner – 26 countries will compete for the coveted glass trophy and the whole of Europe and beyond will be joining in on the excitement and celebrations.

Hazel Brugger and Sandra Studer will be hosting the two Semi-Finals, with the duo being joined by Michelle Hunziker for the Grand Final.

Guest Performers

True to the slogan 'United by Music', the opening and interval acts of the 69th Eurovision Song Contest will bring together many musical genres and perspectives – with some unexpected surprises promised and a mixture of Swiss identity and international pop culture.

On Monday 14 April SRG SSR announced the first of the very many guest acts that will be coming along to Basel to perform at the Live Shows.

Paola (Switzerland 1969 and 1980), Peter of Peter, Sue & Marc (Switzerland 1971, 1976, 1979 and 1981), Luca Hänni (Switzerland 2019) and Gjon’s Tears (Switzerland 2020 and 2021) will come together on stage for the very first time to sing a medley celebrating Switzerland’s rich Eurovision legacy.

Tribute will also be paid to the historical moment that made all of this possible: Nemo’s memorable win at Malmö 2024, which brought the Eurovision Song Contest back to Switzerland.

More acts and plenty of surprises will be announced on the official SRG SSR and Eurovision Song Contest social-media channels over the coming weeks.
