Erika Vikman is riding a giant microphone into the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, ready to represent Finland with ‘ICH KOMME.’ And she’s going to have a great time.

Putting on a show

In 2023, Käärijä unleashed his Cha Cha Cha. In 2024, Windows95man tore up the stage with No Rules! And for 2025, Finland is staying on brand by delivering peak Eurovision viewing pleasure.

Erika Vikman made quite a stir across Europe, when she took to Finland’s national selection contest, UMK. Windows95man opened the show and got everyone warmed up (despite the 'jorts') for the 6 artists, including famous Finnish pop stars Vivii and Nelli Matula and alternative newcomer Goldielocks.

Erika set the stage alight with her song ICH KOMME, a track all about empowerment. She ended her performance by riding a giant microphone fitted with pyro, with her name displayed in red letters behind her. Try following that! Though mercifully for the other artists, she happened to be performing last.

When the jury votes came in, the result was looking close. Goldielocks took the initial lead, with Erika not far behind. But the public knew what they wanted  – and that was for Erika to come first. Once all the votes came in, Erika stormed into the lead with 430 points, with Goldielocks pushed into second place with a score of 303.

Second time lucky

UMK 2025 wasn’t Erika’s first shot at Eurovision. She tried out in 2020 with the song Cicciolina, a performance which involved a pink leather catsuit, a red throne, and two dancing bears. But even with all that and plenty more pyro, it wasn’t to be.

This time, Erika knew she had the right song. She said: “I believe in this song, I believe I can win with this song.”

In 2019, Erika signed a recording agreement with Warner Music and Mökkitie Records, ahead of her first UMK outing.

Erika rose to fame after her release of Cicciolina, and the following year she released her album called – what else? – Erika Vikman. It became a platinum-selling LP which reached the top of the Finnish charts.

She’s had a number of hit songs in addition to Cicciolina, including Syntisten pöytä which features Erika’s trademark playfulness, sauciness, and intense dance rhythms. She topped the charts with Ruoska, which she released with Finnish Eurovision hero Käärijä, who came in second place to Loreen in 2023.

Behind the banger

ICH KOMME was written by husband and wife team Jori and Christel Roosberg. They’re a music production duo based in Finland, who have both had numerous number one hits in Finland. They’ve even won Finnish Grammy awards as individuals. They’ve now put their musical talents together, and delivered a sassy anthem for the Eurovision history books.

Erika loves music that's just as anthemic as ICH KOMME. She always listening to music from superstars like Madonna, Tina Turner, and Kylie Minogue, and some of the tracks on her playlist include ABBA's Lay All Your Love On Me, Lady Gaga's Abracadabra, and Madonna's Like A Prayer, which is also her top choice at karaoke. If you want to get her on the dance floor, get the DJ to play Cher's Believe.

She's also a fan of Eurovision legends Måneskin, who won the Contest for Italy in 2021 with ZITTI E BUONI.

Scream for Erika!

Erika has been entertaining audiences for years. She’s performed at summer theatres, on TV programmes, and in 2016 won the Tangomarkkinat festival, a popular competition domestically.

Erika has a very close companion – a dog called Peppi, the Finnish name for Pippi Longstocking. Peppi usually goes to rehearsals with Erika, although things got a little busy during UMK . Peppi has made a special request to come to Basel, but Erika isn’t sure about the idea of putting her on a plane. We just did a quick check, Erika, and it’s a 27-hour drive from Helsinki to Basel.

Her earliest Eurovision memory is watching Lordi win for Finland with Hard Rock Hallelujah in 2006. But her Eurovision hero is her friend Käärijä, because he was so successful with a Finnish-language song.

On the road to Basel

Decisions around Peppi aside, Erika is getting ready to head to Basel. She's expecting a world of mountains, fancy watches, and ski resorts, and she can't wait to have an amazing experience with the Eurovision community.

Ahead of the show, she’s got a message about her song: "People should be loved exactly as they are. When people are allowed to be themselves, they are free and happy.”

We’ll see you in Basel – free, happy and 100% Erika.
