ADONXS is saying ‘Kiss Kiss Goodbye’ to Czechia and “Kiss kiss, hello!” to Switzerland. He’s heading to Basel to represent his country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

The kiss of approval

Czechia chose their Eurovision artist through an internal selection for 2025, which was a long process. And quite rightly, it’s a serious decision. An international jury decided on the candidates, then 900 people from across three countries gave their feedback. Next up, a focus group took a look. By the end, ADONXS was the clear winner.

A few months later, ADONXS revealed his Eurovision song, Kiss Kiss Goodbye. The music video tells the story of the first time traveller, who is of course ADONXS himself. It tells a deeply personal story about his own childhood and an absent father, with a heart-wrenching twist at the end. And in the middle, a banging dance break. Think Lady Gaga’s Abracadabra.

ADONXS says it took ages to work on that dance break, because he wanted it to feel like something that was accessible to people. At the same time, he didn’t want it to be too simple. He certainly kept the choreographer on their toes, and the result is a routine that makes us all want to get up and dance.

Embracing ADONXS

ADONXS, whose real name is Adam Pavlovčin, was born in Slovakia, educated in the UK, and now lives in Czechia’s capital, Prague. He’s been making music for over a decade, but his big break came in 2021 when he won the Czech-Slovak music talent show, SuperStar.

In the show, one of the songs he sang was a touching rendition of Olivia Rodrigo’s drivers license. He looked quite the popstar on stage, and shrugged off a huge furry coat after the first chorus to reveal a slick white suit. Meanwhile, butterflies ziped around on the graphics behind him, and the judges looked a little teary.

His true Eurovision colours showed too, as he performed Arcade by Duncan Laurence, which won Eurovision 2019 for the Netherlands. It’s a song ADONXS has always loved, and it gave him just as much good luck as it gave to Duncan, as he took the SuperStar win.

After that, ADONXS released his debut album, Age of Adonxs, which got him awards for Best Male Artist and Best New Artist from Evropa 2 Radio. He was even recognised in Forbes Slovakia ’s 30 Under 30 list in 2022.

One of his most memorable moments was performing at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London during his studies. He’ll soon have St. Jakobshalle in Basel to top that memory.

He’s also a prominent LGBTQ+ rights activist. He brings this to his music, and also takes it out into the rest of the world.

Becoming a Eurovision idol

ADONXS first discovered Eurovision when he heard Ruslana’s Wild Dances on the radio, after it won the Contest for Ukraine in 2004. And who could resist that kind of calling?

He said that Eurovision is not as deeply rooted in Czech culture as it is in some others, and with his 2025 entry he wants to change that. Just like he heard Ruslana on the radio and was brought into the Eurovision fold, perhaps the same will be true of Eurovision fans-in-waiting across Czechia when they hear Kiss Kiss Goodbye on the airwaves.

His Eurovision hero is Bambie Thug, who took 6th place for Ireland in 2024 with their song Doomsday Blue, and who conjured up a huge following. ADONXS calls Bambie an icon, and he’s not wrong.

For the love of music

There is no doubt that ADONXS has Eurovision on the brain. Some of his favourite songs are new releases from Eurovision artists, including Mahmood’s TUTA GOLD, Benjamin Ingrosso’s IKNOW IKNOW, and Olly Alexander’s Whisper In The Waves, all laid-back tracks with irresistible beats.

He’s also a big fan of Chappell Roan’s Pink Pony Club, Ariana Grande’s we can’t be friends, and George Michael’s Father Figure.

So long Prague, hello Basel!

ADONXS is getting ready for Basel, spending almost every day in the rehearsal room. He has Matyas Vorda working on his staging, who has been behind some of Czechia’s most impressive moments. We’ve had Vesna’s explosion of music and hair-ography, and Aiko’s giant cage. What will ADONXS bring to Basel?

He’s most excited about meeting the other contestants and making new friends – and in particular he can’t wait to meet Finland’s Erika Vikman.
