Tommy Cash is putting in an order for a Eurovision Song Contest 2025 win, with a side of ‘Espresso Macchiato.’ He’ll be representing Estonia, putting his love for coffee on the stage in Basel.

Order for Tommy Cash

In 2024, 5MIINUST x Puuluup won Europe’s heart with their performance of (Nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi – a name so long it barely fit on the TV screen. For 2025, Estonia is sending a song that’s just as joyful. But rather than going long, Tommy Cash is serving up something short – an Espresso Macchiato.

Tommy had to earn his place at Eurovision, and headed to Estonia’s national selection final, Eesti Laul. He was up against 15 other songs, followed by two rounds of voting. When the final vote came in, Tommy won in a landslide with 83% of the vote.

Behind the barista

Tommy, whose real name is Tomas Tammemets, is both a musician and a visual artist. He’s gained popularity from his distinctive videos, known for absurdist imagery and an edgy sense of humour. But he says there’s more to him than shock, irony, and comedy.

Beyond Estonia’s borders, Tommy has been making musical waves. He’s toured the USA, China, and Europe, and performed at festivals including Glastonbury in the UK, Sziget in Budapest, and Roskilde in Denmark.

He’s worked with some impressive names in the music world, including Charlie xcx, Diplo, and Bones. And he’s also extended his artistry into the world of fashion, collaborating with major brands and reaching millions of people.

You might have read about Tommy in magazines too. He’s been praised for how he tackles sensitive topics, including inclusivity, sexual liberation, and body positivity.

Just like Croatia’s artist Marko Bošnjak, Tommy says that Timothée Chalamet would play him in the movie of his life. We’re now starting to wonder why so many of the class of 2025 look like Timothée Chalamet.

A European blend

Espresso Macchiato was written by Tommy and produced by Finnish multi-platinum selling producer and songwriter Johannes Naukkarinen.

Johannes’ songs have had around 450 million streams on Spotify, and there’s one of his songs that Eurovision fans will certainly be familiar with. None other than Käärijä’s Cha Cha Cha, which came second for Finland at Eurovision 2023.

Filling his Eurovision cup

Tommy has two early memories of Eurovision that stand out. Firstly, he remembers Ruslana’s win for Ukraine in 2004 with Wild Dances.

Secondly, it has to be Estonia’s first win. Tanel Padar, Dave Benton, & 2XL took the trophy for Estonia in 2001 with their disco party song Everybody. It was quite a moment for Eurovision, as Dave Benton made history as the first Black participant to win the Contest.

Tommy Cash

Tommy’s Eurovision hero is Will Ferrell, who starred in the movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. Tommy loves his movies and how much he adores Eurovision. We can hear a little Double Trouble influence in Espresso Macchiato, and no doubt Will will be watching the Contest when it airs in May 2025.

Musical flavours

Tommy likes his music like he likes his coffee – hot, strong, and pulsing through his body.

Some of his favourite tunes include Save My Soul by Groove Armada, Seabird by Alessi Brothers, and Under The Boardwalk by The Drifters. And if there’s one song that will always get him up on the dancefloor, it’s Stardust’s Music Sounds Better With You.
