Australia is good to Go-Jo!

Australia has its song for Basel! Milkshake Man will be performed at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest by global viral sensation Go-Jo.

The energetic performer is already full of excitement about getting to present his music on the world's biggest stage:

“The Milkshake Man’s purpose is to inspire people to embrace the loudest and proudest version of themselves, and I can’t think of a better place to share that message than the Eurovision stage! It’s an absolute dream come true to represent such a beautiful and diverse nation, and I've never been more excited to share my art and vision with the incredible Eurovision fans around the world!”

With Milkshake Man , he wants to “shake and make the whole world dance”, and encourage people to embrace their individuality, unapologetically and wholeheartedly.

The lyric, “ The shake is not a drink – it’s a state of mind, it’s a secret superpower you were born to find ”, speaks to how self-expression is something you need to unlock that already exists within you.

Released by Chugg Music and Rix Records, Milkshake Man was written by Go-Jo alongside members of Australian pop band Sheppard; George Sheppard, Amy Sheppard and Jason Bovino.

The music project of artist Marty Zambotto, you may well have heard Go-Jo's previous hit single Mrs. Hollywood , after it was shared around the world at an incredible speed, with over 60 million digital streams and one billion views across all platforms.

The magnetic musician, who can play guitar and unicycle at the same time, is based in Sydney. A social media powerhouse, Go-Jo has amassed over 1.4 million followers across TikTok, YouTube and Instagram. In 2023, Go-Jo was the 9th most streamed Australian artist in the world. He’s toured across Australia, Europe, United States and Southeast Asia, and shared the stage with some of the biggest artists in the world.

His next stop is Basel in Switzerland, to represent his country on the international stage. It's a long way from the small rural town he hails from, just outside of Manjimup in the Southwest region of Western Australia. In his teenage years, his mother (the frontwoman of a local rock act herself) bought Go-Jo an electric guitar from Toyworld to fuel his love of songs from the 2000s and the great singer-songwriters.

At the same time, Marty was offered an amazing opportunity to pursue his dream career in sport when the WAFL (West Australian Football League) wanted to further develop his talent for football in Perth. There, he honed his DIY skillset and became immersed in producing, mixing and recording for other budding artists, before carving out a path of his own.

In possibly the greatest duel of his life, he ultimately chose music – he describes this as “the universe flickering its high beams” at him.
