Fancy 'A Little Bit More'?
Before our 37 artists take to the stage at Liverpool Arena for those first rehearsals, they've gone and recorded some very special performances for us.
Our new series ‘Eurovision... A Little Bit More’ is out now: three episodes of an hour-long Eurovision show that features exclusive performances from the Liverpool 2023 participants.
The ‘Class of ‘23’ were tasked to submit reworked or remixed versions of their Eurovision entries; original material; and cover versions of their favourite songs. The results are a superb selection of performances, shining a new light on the songs we already love, and introducing us to some new ones along the way.
Episode 1
In the first episode, presented by Destiny, 18 performances includes one of our artists covering another song participating this year - as Australia's Voyager performed their own version of Cyprus' Andrew Lambrou's Break A Broken Heart .
More covers were provided by our artists from Slovenia and Iceland, while our participants from Albania and Cyprus tackled two Eurovision Song Contest champs, covering the winners for Greece in 2005 and Serbia in 2007. Switzerland's Remo Forrer, meanwhile, invited along Luca Hänni to join him as he covered Luca's Contest entry for Switzerland in 2019, She Got Me .
And did anyone have a reggae version of Käärijä's Cha Cha Cha on their Liverpool 2023 bingo card?...
Episode 2
In the next episode of Eurovision... A Little More, introduced by SuRie, we have 19 performances from our lineup. Amongst them, Contest winners by Lena, Duncan Laurence, Jamala, ABBA and Salvador Sobral get covered by the 2023 participants for Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Greece and Armenia respectively. We also get three original songs by our artists from Azerbaijan, Portugal and San Marino.
And who doesn't love a Eurovision medley? Well, in this second episode we get treated to not one, but two; courtesy of Teya & Salena from Austria and Theodor Andrei from Romania.
Episode 3
Our third episode is hosted by KEiiNO, with a total of 20 videos closing the chapter on our series. Amongst them, we had our artists from France and Belgium pay homage to 20th-century Eurovision Song Contest classics by Marie Myriam (France 1977) and Imaani (United Kingdom 1998).
Blanca Paloma delivered a performance of the song that she competed with in the 2022 edition of Spain's Eurovision pre-selection Benidorm Fest , Secreto De Agua . And the United Kingdom's Mae Muller revealed her love for ABBA, as she covered their seminal SOS .
Also for the final episode, Marco Mengoni contributed a performance of his hit single from 2021, Luce , while Iceland's Diljá took us back to last year's Contest in Italy, performing a version of Sweden's entry that year, Hold Me Closer .
As well as each of the episodes, all of the individual performances can be watched on the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel .
The theme tune used for 'Eurovision... A Little Bit More' is a version of Te Deum reimagined by pop producers The Alias, who wrote the original theme to the Idol TV series franchise and have produced for pretty much every pop act going, from S Club to Little Mix, Cheryl, and Demi Lovato!
