Søren Torpegaard Lund has won Melodi Grand Prix 2026 with the song Før Vi Går Hjem
A sold-out Arena Nord in Frederikshavn played host to the annual Danish song competition on Saturday 14 February.
There, eight artists performed in the hope of being awarded the Melodi Grand Prix trophy and the opportunity to represent their country at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in May.
That honour went to the artist Søren Torpegaard Lund and his song Før Vi Går Hjem.

It was a unanimous victory for Søren, who ended up winning both the jury vote and the public vote, with a total of 39 points.
In second place was Ericka Jane and Death Of Me (on 31 points), and finishing third was Melodi Grand Prix 2025 winner Sissal with her song Infinity (and a score of 30).

This artist graduated from the Danish School of Performing Arts and has appeared in a number of major stage shows since then. In 2022, he played the lead role of Tony in the classic musical West Side Story in a Danish production at the Copenhagen Opera.
The Melodi Grand Prix stage was nothing new to the singer ahead of the night of his victory in 2026. At the 2023 edition of the contest, he competed with the ballad Lige Her.
Speaking on his Melodi Grand Prix 2026 winner, Søren said:
"There are no breaks in this song because it is one long movement. A night that never stops! This song is like a piece of candy that is both sour and sweet"
Før Vi Går Hjem was written by Søren Torpegaard Lund, Valdemar Littauer Bendixen, Clara Sofie Fabricius and Thomas Meilstrup.
Søren will perform Før Vi Går Hjem in the Second Half of the Second Semi-Final on Thursday 14 May.
