Estonian broadcaster ERR held the 2026 edition of its annual Eesti Laul song competition on Saturday 14 February.

After all 12 songs had been performed, voting came in from both a public vote and an international jury vote, contributing 50% of the scores each.

From this first vote, a Top 3 was determined and a new 'Superfinal' formed. The three songs were then put to a second and final vote, although this time it was solely the public vote deciding Estonia's song for Vienna.

The group, which consists of Lenna Kuurmaa (vocals), Piret Järvis-Milder (vocals, guitar) and Kerli Kivilaan (vocals, guitar, bass) was founded in Estonia’s capital Tallinn in 2002. They swiftly became a big chart success domestically, as well as in several countries like Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Vanilla Ninja’s first international album, Traces Of Sadness, entered at Number 3 in the German album charts and at Number 4 in Austria. The band also scored several continental hits with songs such as Tough Enough, When The Indians Cry, Blue Tattoo, I Know and Dangerzone.

In 2005, their Swiss success saw Vanilla Ninja represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest, where their song Cool Vibes finished in eighth place at the Grand Final.

Vanilla Ninja will perform Too Epic To Be True in the Second Half of the First Semi-Final on Tuesday 12 May.
